I really appreciate all the support from everyone with the new cd! It took so much time and money to record and it’s really nice to see it striking a chord with people. I sincerely thank you! :-) -much love, Scott
The new cd Epiphany is out and selling well and is getting great reviews (see below). If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, visit the "STORE"
PoP is ArT -Epiphany testimonials:
I’m shocked….i mean, I don’t know who this guy is or where he came from but EPIPHANY is one of the best pop records you’ll hear this year! -Tim Hinely, Dagger Magazine
"This is what the Beatles would have sounded like if they had stayed together for 5 more years and had a different producer. This is rich, textural music that feels good to listen to and I love it!"
Tom L-Senior Product Manager, Microsoft Windows
"I think the [Pop Is Art] CD is really good, and unlike a lot of stuff that's coming out of today's pop underground because [Scott’s] sound retains the kind of style and infectiousness that was in existence on a lot of those great late '70s albums."
-David Bash: Founder/CEO International Pop Overthrow
One of the best things I've heard in a LONG TIME! ....a GEM!
-Steve Turnidge; Ultraviolet Studios
"Scott has a command of the pop idiom like few others. He seems to swallow records whole, let them mix around in his system, and spit out completely fresh interpretations of classic pop elements. Whether as a singer, songwriter,
producer or instrumentalist, his control of the art at the heart of the music is masterful."
-Clay Farmer; Producer, A&R Imago records
“Pop Is Art is going to set the power pop world afire! this is about as classic of indie power pop as you are going to find”
-Bruce Brodeen; Not Lame Recordings
I'm going to say, here and now, even before you've dotted the "i" and crossed the "t" in "Hit" that this is going to be one of the biggest pop releases of the year... a masterpiece! .... not to mention an album's worth of simply superb songs that must be heard. Bravo!
-Alan Haber; Pure Pop Radio
I can hear the painstaking details that are SO lovingly delivered on this amazing CD!! It's great, great, great stuff!
-Craig Leve; Snap, Crackle, Pop!
WOW! No, make that DOUBLE WOW! In a perfect world the name of Scott McGinley's moniker of his latest project would be "PoP is ArT is GreaT"! It's chock full of gorgeous melodies and beautiful harmonies! This is solid from start to finish! Another "Best Of 2006" candidate for sure! GREAT!!! No, make that DOUBLE GREAT!!!
- Ray Gianchetti; kool kat musik
Already praised by critics and fans alike to be one of the years *BEST* power pop releases. Put this on your must have list. A great cd!!! ***** Jam Records
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!! The cd is incredible! Every person who has heard your cd wanted to know who it was!
-Donna V- Boothwyn, PA
it’s GREAT!!! The vocal work is astounding!!! Nice job – you should be very proud. It will forever amaze me that a major label doesn’t pick up on CD’s like yours – why can’t they see how great this stuff is!?!?!?!?!
-Rick A- Omaha NE
...I have just 1 word to describe [Epiphany] -- FANTASTIC !!!! I love this CD! -- great, great stuff! I love it - love it - love it ! Can you tell how excited I am about this CD!?! -- best new CD I have bought this year!
-Rich D-South River, NJ
I am amazed at your music, and it is always great to find music that hits you right!-Tom L-Seattle, WA
Unlike some current pop acts, this doesn't sound like "Let's write songs that sound like [insert old pop group here] songs, only different." This is a great pop sound, its own sound, only now instead of then...I know I will play the album again and again.-James T; Wilmington, NC
[PoP is ArT] is the next wave of Jellyfish pop sensibility with a little bit of Elvis Costello and oddly enough Lenny Kravitz (trust me) vocalizations thrown in.-Kyle W; Kirkland WA

I've been listening to the new album since the disc arrived a couple of days ago. I'm going to say, here and now, even before you've dotted the "i" and crossed the "t" in "Hit" that this is going to be one of the biggest pop releases of the year. You've delivered a masterpiece-level work full of invention, great Beach Boys harmonies and inventive arrangements, not to mention an album's worth of simply superb songs that must be heard. Bravo!

Hi Everyone!
Thing are CRAZY busy right now! While I'm putting the final touches on the new POP IS ART cd, Vicky is finishing up....making our 1st baby! The cd is 90% finished and is sounding great! and.....oh yeah.....IT's A GIRL! (although I don't know what the margin of error is on ultra sounds!).
A special thank you to everyone who has generously given our new baby clothes, toys and baby stuff! She will be the best dressed baby around-that's for sure!
***sorry, POP IS ART will NOT be at the IPO this year on November 17th, due to Vicky's pregnancy***
I want to send a special shout out to my new friends over at the YELLOWBEAT show in Japan. Baby Magic & Baby Gremlin have an amazing show with a great mix of music-that in itself is a good enough reason to check it out....BUT....they've also been playing BLISS tracks and have done 3 (count 'em 3!!!) features on POP IS ART! go listen in and say "HI"! Check out the theme song we wrote and recorded for them here.
And while you're at it make sure to check out THE BEST THREE HOURS OF RADIO ON THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' PLANET! Look for POP IS ART productions on 2 awesome upcoming compilation cds: on the new Wizzard's Brew (Wizzard in Vinyl records out of Japan), there will be BABY HE LOVES YOU (which is a new punk version featuring Vicky on vocals), and MY LIFE IS A DOG (featuring Scott). And POP BOOMERANG records down under in Australia will feature a new version of "Slightly Cracked" with Vicky taking the lead. These have all been recorded during the recording of the POP IS ART cd (due out soon), which is another good excuse for why it is taking so long!!! :-)
Former Bliss member, bassist Tony Grey has been busy since the BLISS days! Check out his site and what he's up to here.
That's all the news for now, if you happen to be in atlantic city on a saturday night, stop by the Party Pit @ Caesars and say hi-i'm with the INSIDERS there for the month of NOVEMBER (saturdays 7pm-3am).

Hi Everybody! :-)
Spring and summer are great seasons for pop-you know, you get that "beach boy feeling" when the weather is nice! Here's the latest on the POP front:
1st up....Something unusual has been cooking over at POP IS ART studios....Yep, Scott & Vicky are expecting their first child in December.....so keep buying those POP IS ART cd's!!!! :-)
That is also the reason why the new POP IS ART cd is taking a bit longer than expected. The recording is coming along with sessions weekly, but it will be into the fall before it's released.
Pop Is Art is honored to be invited to be on the next Wizzard's Brew from the Japanese label Wizzard In Vinyl. I'll keep you updated as it gets closer, but it will include 2 unreleased tracks, available only on this compilation. Daisuke from Wizzard in Vinyl is a new friend of mine and I suggest checking out his online store here: http://www.wizzard-in-vinyl.com

If you're curious what Scott's early 90's band NEW RELIGION was like....back when Scott had hair down to his butt.....uh.....it was cool BACK THEN!...check out these newly released cd's compiling all the best material from that era;
AFRO-ADESIAC compiles most of the funky rock tracks from the time period that NEW RELIGION was doing well in the Philly/tri-state area, and being looked at by American record labels, to right after their big move to Asia.
PHILLY PHUNK rounds out the music from the same period as AFRO-ADESIAC plus adds in some other demos and earlier recordings.
ASIAN DIARY PT1 is just that; a collection of songs written on tour in Asia. some have been top 10 hits and some have never been heard before. This marks the change of NEW RELIGION from funk band to pop band.
ASIAN DIARY PT2 winds up the collection with more songs from the road, and the beginning of the writing that would be for the BLISS project
check them all out at the STORE
The POP IS ART cd "Is Pop Art?" will be out soon (we're hoping for early summer) and features a bunch of new cuts by scott and the boys....(uh, and girl-vicky). from what we've heard so far-it will be worth the wait! The cd will have more of what scott does best; great hooks, lotsa sweet harmonies and interesting instrumentation. 2 tracks have been dusted off and rewritten from the NEW RELIGION-Asian Diary sessions, so if you need a preview, check out the Asian Diary pt1 & 2
POP IS ART wants to send out a special thanks to Dana & Carl on the "THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO" show on http://www.wxxe.org (wxxe fm SYRACUSE NY) who play POP IS ART just about EVERY SHOW!!! it's THE BEST THREE HOURS OF RADIO ON THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' PLANET! and we're not just saying that because they play POP IS ART! it's a real music lovers show, with an eclectic mix that ranges from Reggae to Pink Floyd to Beatles...to....POP IS ART. Toby Lightman-we knew her way back when! When the Bliss band was warming up for the big tour, they added a female vocalist and did a couple month stint @ Riva's in Bangkok Thailand. The singer was none other than TOBY LIGHTMAN, who is now on the charts with her own album "Devils and Angels". The cd is getting great reviews and she is currently on tour. "I just emailed her recently to congratulate her" says Scott. "She has an amazing voice; just so much power coming out of that small frame!" "It was great working with her, and we really had some fun....hey! I might have some video footage of us for when she's on "Before they were rock stars"! Make sure to pick up Toby's cd and look for her video "Devils and Angels" on MTV.
Happy New Year! After the holidays, we're rolling up our sleeves and getting back to creating music and recording. Here's a run down of what's going on in POP-land:

Fall 2006

................................ .....Vicky McGinley................Pop is Art ............................................

............................................................................

.......... .....................POP IS ART's show on April 26th at the International Pop Overthrow festival held in Chicago, was a great success! "The band was really good that night and the audience was really into it" reports Scott. "We had the whole show videotaped and we'll be posting some clips on the site very soon." So if you didn't make it to Chicago, Check out the clips on the POP IS ART link. Big thanks to David Bash (founder and CEO).
"The IPO band which really struck both David and I as a highlight last night at Nevin's Live, BTW, were Pop Is Art (a Philly quartet led by music-industry veteran Scott McGinley)."
The POP IS ART cd "In the Beginning" has been selling great and has been attracting attention! David Bash: Founder/CEO of International Pop Overthrow, for instance, loves the cd. David says "I think the CD is really good, and unlike a lot of stuff that's coming out of today's pop underground because your sound retains the kind of style and infectiousness that was in existence on a lot of those great late '70s albums. It's one of my favorite releases of 2002!"
"In The Beginning" is a collection of all the best power pop songs Scott has written over the years, so it's a really strong debut. A new POP is ART cd is slated for release later this year. Check out POP IS ART cd "In The Beginning" here
Here's what people are saying:
Eric Sorensen: January, 2003
" In The Beginning "- by Pop Is Art. Scott McGinley's 17-song multi-track effort is superb! This is pseudo-60s pop at its best - which means that McGinley starts with Beatles, Byrds and Beach Boy references, and builds from there. Top Ten for sure!
Pop Is Art - In The Beginning ... Bruce Brodeen-not lame
Featuring Scott McGinley(Insiders), Pop Is Art is going to set the power pop world afire! this is about as classic of indie power pop as you are going to find, simply put forth here. We'll say that Pop Is Art features all the velvet smooth vocal harmonies, wickedly long-lasting melodies and sweet sounds that great pop plops down on the table. Fans of Matthew Sweet, Velvet Crush, The Dons/Receiver, Raspberries, Fools Face, Cloud Eleven and The Rubinoos will find various displays of the sunny, hand-clapped, guitar pop these artists do so well. What creeps into some of this material that is kinda cool is a distinct Southern California mid-70's spirit. Extremely Highly Recommended!

Origivation magazine, Philadelphia, PA Dec 2002
................................
...surprisingly retro 60 folk, yet very moody and poppy at once...
...INFLUENCES: Wow, too many to list here. I hear a little bit of everything in here......exotic yet familiar style, i can quite put my finger on, but i like it...
...MUSICALITY: Very good. In fact excellent. Multi-layered and complex at times, but very well constructed...
...This husband and wife duo are very talented musically, and perform out of shear love of music itself. It evident that they perform well together and have a following at shows. Their site indicates that Scott, while fronting another band [Bliss www.popisart.com] was quite popular in Asia, playing to crowds in the 30,000 range. Wow!
Worth listening to? Yes.
Scott and Vicky have recorded the theme song for the Snap, Krackel, Pop! power pop show out of Eugene Oregon. "The host of the show Craig Leve is a really great guy and he plays our stuff all the time, so we did the theme song for him" reports Scott. To download it click here!........................
